After working as the coordinator for Artist in Residence programs at Kyoto Art Center, Akiko was in charge of stage productions at the Kyoto Art Theatre from Kyoto University of the Art before her current position in 2008. While directing "Reactor for Awareness in Motion" (2010-), an R&D project that seeks a new relationship between technology and the human body, she also produced contact Gonzo+YCAM tour performance "hey you, ask the animals" (2013), Nomura Mansai + Ryuichi Sakamoto + Shiro Takatani's Noh collaboration "LIFE-WELL" (2013), and the flamenco dancer Israel Galvan's session with AI "Israel & Israel" (2019), as well as YCAM original works.

In 2015, she studied at Watershed in the UK under the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Overseas Study Program for Emerging Artists.

Awarded Honorary Mentions at Ars Electronica for Richi Owaki + YCAM "The Other in You" in 2017.
