Q. How do you interpret the theme in terms of works/projects?
To examine in what way media are related to our daily life. This is of course not only about mass media, but includes also such media as SNS for example. While I guess the result may turn out rather scary, I would also like to investigate to what extent these things exert influence on what we think and do. On top of that, I would test how media can be used in regard to our manners of thinking, sensations and experiences; for sharing knowledge or experiences; and for creating artworks. I would further like to reaffirm the fact that media – just like art, music, architecture, theater or film – are environments for creating works, but at once they are also materials, and function as tools as well.
Q. How does the community transform by way of media, and what kinds of results can be expected to come out of that?
Expanding on point 1) above, in addition to creating mere "works", the question should also be how to use, and for that mater, control media in our daily life. Then we can surely also start to think about what that daily life should ideally be like. For example, think about the diverse possibilities of the medium "money". One possibility of money is to make people compete with one another, or cause fear of poverty, another one is to connect people and make them happy.
